Abstract

The purpose of this project is a fundamental understanding of the High Entropy Alloy carbide (HEA-C) phases in a close connection with a possible implementation of the material in industrial applications, as functional coatings. The project is aiming for the development of novel HEA-C coatings, stable at high temperatures, lubricant, with high surface energy and high corrosion resistance. Our approach consists in choosing different chemistry for HEA-C systems considering, e.g., phase stabilities, growth conditions, and different elements’ influence on mechanical and tribological properties, thermal and corrosion stabilities. The fundamental research approach will be complementary with the tests of the new coatings in adverse conditions mimiking severe working conditions.
